Membership

The Club has an active member and associate member (i.e. the immediate family, spouse and children under 18 years of age of the registered member) base, the majority of whom live in NSW or the ACT with a handful of members in VIC, QLD.

From time to time we also consider new members and we welcome expressions of interest from friends who use the lodge, please contact us at hwlmembers@gmail.com. (Currently not taking new members).

Membership offers priority booking rights with access to accommodation at Thredbo in both summer and winter. Generally we can meet all accommodation needs of members.  Proudly, we have never held ballots for accommodation.  Bookings are made with our Booking Officer either by mail or email and completing a Booking Form.  We are currently testing a new online Accommodation Availability service, with the ability to take complete bookings and payment online, sometime in the future.

Members pay an annual subscription as set by the Management Committee and approved at annual AGM and member benefits include:

  • Member and his/her immediate family discount accommodation rates and preferential booking over non-members (i.e. member bookings are open one month earlier than non-members, there is no ballot in place at present)
  • The right of one vote, as set out in the articles of incorporation at the Club’s annual general meeting
  • Opportunity for each child on attaining 18 years of age to become a member in their own right following payment of ‘transfer’ fee as set by the Management Committee at time (usually double annual subscription) and annual subs
  • Participate in Club social functions and annual ski races.

The Management Committee consists of 12 members elected by the Club at the annual general meeting. Positions include Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary (plus informal minute secretary), Treasurer, Membership secretary and 6 committee members (includes a Committee Member responsible for leading maintenance.)

Our membership age profile is very broad from babies through to foundation members in their 90s.
